PaperAgent / Document workflows

Give the next month a clean spreadsheet starting point.

Repeating a monthly layout should not mean copying last month's purchases. Configure a blank period template so PaperAgent can create the needed worksheet or month block with your category inputs ready.

For users whose existing workbooks need a separate worksheet or repeating input block for each month.

Your setup

Start with one document.

  1. 01

    Prepare the blank source layout

Select reusable rows and define category inputs without completed purchases or formula targets.

  2. 02

    Choose the period creation mode

Duplicate a worksheet or append a block, and select the period label and target settings.

  3. 03

    Preview a new month

Use a sample from an unmapped period and inspect the new layout before relying on it.

In practice

Know what happens to your files.

Choose a new worksheet or a new month block.

A worksheet template duplicates a source worksheet for the new period. A block template copies a configured row block into the chosen target worksheet. Select the approach that matches the way you already inspect monthly records.

Name the period layout consistently and choose its source rows. A template is used for configured period inputs, not to create a full reporting system from an unstructured workbook. Existing mappings still need suitable category definitions.

Prepare a genuinely blank input template.

Use a source layout designed for reuse, with category input offsets, amount columns and optional vendor columns specified. Keep the period label inside the selected block and separate from the financial input cells.

Do not use last month's completed records as a blank source. Formula cells are not valid amount inputs, and protected or incompatible target layouts can block creation. Check labels, row bounds and category offsets before allowing a new period to be generated.

Preview the new period and inspect its inputs.

When a document reaches a period without an existing mapping, PaperAgent needs either a suitable configured template or a mapping supplied by you. A missing category in the template requires review rather than an invented input location.

Start with a workbook copy and a sample document from a new month. Confirm that the period label, copied structure and amount destination are right. Keep manual workbook changes separate while the period is being prepared and written.

Questions before you start

Can PaperAgent create the next month's worksheet?

Yes, when you configure a compatible blank period template in worksheet mode with the required category inputs.

Can I keep several month blocks on one worksheet?

Block mode supports a configured source row block and target worksheet. Its label and input offsets must fit the selected layout.

What if the new category is absent from the template?

The document needs review. Add a suitable mapping or update the template rather than writing into an unrelated category.
