A cross-currency receipt review must keep the invoice amount and received settlement amount on distinct currency bases. First verify the specific invoice portion and gross receipt. A nominal subtraction across different codes cannot establish the unpaid amount, and a net payout may contain fees or other transactions.
Choose and preserve an explicit reference for the comparison, including direction, date and precision. The companion calculator multiplies foreign units by entered settlement units per one foreign unit and rounds once to two decimals. It does not provide a live quote or determine the accounting or tax rate required for the transaction.
In the fictional example, EUR 1,000 at entered USD 1.10 per EUR gives USD 1,100 reference equivalent. Confirmed gross USD 1,080 differs by USD −20. The review then needs actual conversion, fee and allocation evidence; the difference alone cannot establish underpayment or a realized gain or loss.

Work through the billing decision
Match the actual receipt and invoice portion
Verify receipt status, gross amount, settlement code and payer reference. Identify the exact foreign amount covered and prior allocations.
Compare a documented reference
Record the entered rate's direction, date and evidence, then calculate the rounded settlement equivalent. Preserve actual conversion evidence independently from that reference.
Investigate before updating status
Trace the signed difference with conversion, fee and allocation records. Mark unresolved explanations as hypotheses, record the approved billing action and refer accounting classification to its proper review.

Avoid this
Using the reciprocal rate by mistake
Write the units explicitly. Settlement units per foreign unit must be multiplied by the foreign amount in this tool.
Avoid this
Calling the difference a customer debt automatically
Verify actual conversion and invoice allocation; a settlement-currency difference does not directly define foreign-currency debt.

Questions people usually have before changing the workflow.
Can a matching reference prove full payment?
No. It is an arithmetic match. Receipt status, invoice portion and allocation still need evidence.
Can I use a live market rate instead of records?
The tool uses your entered reference. The appropriate actual or accounting basis must be determined separately, with evidence retained.
Does this post gains or losses?
No. It neither changes billing records nor supplies an accounting classification.
